Artist Gaylord Ho
Information about artist Gaylord Ho creator of Roman Seraphim Classics Angels, Millenium Angels, Impressions Sculptures and Valencia Collection figurines.
Master Sculptor Gaylord Ho has been an integral member of the Seraphim Classics creative team since the Collection's debut in 1994. In addition to possessing an extraordinary artistic gift, Ho shares with Roman the unwavering commitment to the creation of beautiful angels. Rendering elaborately detailed wings, flowing gowns and exquisite angelic features, Ho has created heavenly messengers with unequaled grace and elegance. Born on April 11, 1950 in Hsin-Wu, Taiwan. After completing his basic education, Gaylord attended the National Taiwan Academy of Arts where he ranked first in his class, won numerous awards, and received national attention for his work. Upon graduation in 1972, Ho began fulfilling his military duties to Taiwan, but his university work continued to earn acclaim. During this period, one of his sculptures won the National Sculpture Exhibition and received international praise.
After military service, Gaylord studied under master sculptors in Japan where he further developed his sculpting skills and knowledge of production techniques. In 1979, he established Nomiso Porcelain Design Center, his own studio for creating ceramic and porcelain collectibles. His training did not end with the opening of his own business. Committed to excellence and continuous improvement, Ho regularly traveled to Japan to hone his skills and continue his education. As his reputation grew, Ho was elected Director of the Craft Development Association for the People's Republic of China. He was also commissioned by the Taiwan Government to design and sculpt a series of figures depicting historic cultural events in the lives of Chinese children, a collection that was exhibited at the Chinese National Museum.
In 1986, Nomiso Porcelain Design Center became Gaylord Design. This company has been responsible for award-winning collectible creations marketed the world over by the top names in the collectibles industry. Ho works out of the Chungli facility that houses both his home and studios. Even after decades of extraordinary success, Ho wholeheartedly embraces his work and does the finish sculpting on every item that is handled by his studio.
Second only to sculpting is Gaylord's passion for teaching. He has taught at Taiwan University and Shanghai University, and has recruited many of the artists employed by Gaylord Design from the ranks of his students. The Master Sculptor feels that his talented team of well-trained professionals is more precious than any of the many awards and honors he has received for his own accomplishments.
In his free time, Gaylord enjoys listening to music, reading, swimming and traveling. His musical preferences are diverse and include classical, folk, opera and country. For health and pleasure, Gaylord's daily routine includes an early morning walk to his health club, an hour of Tai Chi followed by an hour of swimming, and concludes with a walk back to his home.
